Weird text issue that just recently started

Couldn't find anything archived that fixed or answered my issue, so here it is.

Just started happening a few days ago.
If I text any one with a text longer than say 2 lines, the text received is random numbers, letters, and symbols. Anything shorter though is fine.
Now here is where I think someone might know where the issue is... If I text myself or any other cricket phone the same long text that garbled.. its fine.

So to save anyone writing something I have tried heres what I am running and what I have tried. Remember it hasn't done this for the 3 years I have had it.

Huawei m860 rooted
CM7(2.3.5) 0913 build for ascend(playful gods kernel 2.6.29)
running the SMS that is in that build

Think thats pretty much all the info that matters.

I have tried different SMS like GO, handscent, stock, etc
I have completely wiped(factory reset) and formatted SD(overkill)
Reflashed stock... :(

Well that is about all I can think off.
I have modified my build.prop, but not in like 5 months.
I will post the only SMS one just in case though.

ro.telephony.sms_segment_size=160

Also my wife has the exact same phone and specs, hers will do it as well.. but not every time like mine.

I am stumped, wondering if its my carrier/network...

Hi.
Thanks, but no encryption apps.

Thinking about it today, it seems like this is somehow maybe related to MMS even though it happens on long texts under my limit.

Oddly though, I have some people I text, not on cricket, that never get garble texts from me... no matter how long.

The phones so far its happening on(as far as I know) are also phones running 1.7...

Things I thought of today.
This has me befuddled.
I am pretty good at solving these types of problems with sound logical reasoning.. I mean its part of what I do for a living on networks.
I feel like a noob.
I think I will talk to some of my other friends tonight running anything 2.1 and up.. along with a couple running 4.1 just to rule out the possibility that cupcake may be an issue or something.
Like I said its weird because I have been running this same setup for roughly a year, never once had a text do that.. including 1.7

Any more ideas or input is certainly welcome and encouraged . ;)

Thanks
