When connecting to a friends WiFi I could see all his photo albums on his laptop in my "gallery". He had done nothing to enable this.

When voice command for Music Player is enabled, and you are playing music, random conversation stops the current track, or skips to the next.

now that is frightening.

Possibly just has media sharing turned on on his PC/Mac. Sharing media (photos, vids, music) to any devices attached to his network.
I'm at work at the mo so can't test it but that's my guess

Yep, it's media sharing. I've got a few computers at home, all sharing media for my wireless streaming media server downstairs.

I can see all the folders on my phone too. I quite like it

Same thing happened once with me and my wife's laptops. I could see her whole itunes playlist in my itunes.
