When you first login to the app with Google, we check http://AndroidForums.com to see if your Gmail is associated with an account already. If it is not, we create an account for you and you should be prompted before first comment to change your username. The username is generated from the information Google gives us and we want to allow users the chance to update this at least once to protect everyone's privacy.

If for some reason it did not, let me know. If you want to change your username you can email support and we can take care of that for you. If you log in to AndroidForums on a desktop you could PM me or @Phases too. Additional account settings can also be change there.
