WEP problem with Barnacle

I rooted my Huawei Ascend with z4Root and installed Barnacle. The connection works perfectly when unsecured. As soon as I turn on WEP in Barnacle my Vista laptop can only connect locally and not to the internet. Does anyone know how to fix this?
