Can someone please help.
I have been trying to resolve this issue on my own for some time now.
My wifi mac address is missing.
When i go to wifi settings, it tells me that the mac address is not available.
It also says the same for bluetooth.
I have found that when i switch on bluetooth, the address becomes available.
doing the same to wifi does not.
switching on wifi, the phone starts to search for networks, then stops after a few seconds,
with the unable to search at this time error.
I then go to "about, status, and look in the settings there.
Bluetooth mac address is there when switched on, and unavailable when off.
But wifi mac address is unavailable permanently.
I have tried switching wifi on, and very quickly going to these settings again, but no change at all.
While in the wifi settings, and clicking on advanced, i can see an input section for different items.
use static ip, ip address, gateway, netmask, dns1 and dns2.
all are greyed out except the first on asking to use static ip.
If i click on this, the rest open up for input, but they are all blank.
I assume that this is where my problem lies, and would like to know what these settings should be.
Phone is running on 2.1 update 1 if that helps.
At present, I am stuck with a phone that I cannot update, and i love the phone. it does everything for me, except no connection to internet now.
Please help.
Sorry, I may have misled you a little.
The missing wifi mac address is on my phone, experia x10i.
As I said previously, when I switch on bluetooth, the mac address becomes available, but when I switch on wifi, the phone goes into search mode for a few seconds, then tells me it is unable to search for networks.
Going to the same settings page, as bluetooth, the wifi mac address is still missing, and will not allow phone to connect with net.
I am currently using wpa2, but nothing at all.
If it would help, I could take some snapshots and show you in a series of photo's what is missing.
I am sure that the missing data is the problem, and I know a lot of x10 users have same problem, so this might help them also.
Going into settings, wireless and networks, then wifi settings, then advanced,
it tells me mac address is unavailable. below this is a button "use static IP"
there are fiveother buttons below this, and are greyed out. They only become available for input when i click on the use static ip button.
These other four buttons are. IP address, Gateway, Netmask, DNS1 and DNS2. There is no information in any of these, and this is where I think my problem lies. That is, if i should be using a static ip address.
If i go to settings, about phone, status, and look at the info there. at the bottom, is wifi and bluetooth mac addresses. both unavailable, until i switch them on.
when switched on, bluetooth becomes available and reads out the actual address, wifi does not change from unavailable.
I just thought of posting my solution here as well in order to help others that might face this problem in the future.
After troubleshooting the problem for over two months, I have finally been able to resolve the problem with the help of a Belkin technical support engineer. Just for clarification, the problem is neither with the phones nor the router. It is to do with the Wifi settings that can be accessed via the gateway i/p address (In my case it was: 192.168.2.1). I have followed the below steps that made it work for me (Please note that this solution may not help all the other WEP problems, it just seemed to help in my case. The best idea is to check up with your router's technical support department unless there is a problem with your phone).
Wifi settings changed:
1) Disabled Firewall
2) Disabled WAN Ping Blocking
3) The most important part:
- Under Security, I changed the Wireless channel from '10' to '9'.
- Changed the Configuration from "802.11 b/g/n" to "802.11 g only".
- Changed the SSID name from say: "Belkin-Router" to "Belkin".
4) Applied changes and hurray, my phones got instantly connected.
Hope this helps others as well.
Hello,
I am new to this forum and would really want to please help me get this problem solved. I just bought a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and tried connecting it to my internet at home (Belkin N1 router - 64-bit WEP encryption) but it does not connect at all. It catches the internet connection and says its in very good range, I put the key but it never connects. I have tried all the different things possible via this forum, googling for answers, etc but haven't found a solution yet.
Stuff that I have tried:
1) Tried accessing it via a static i/p technique.
2) I cannot change the WEP encryption to WPA-PSK because the internet is set up by my landlord and I am not allowed to change it. I can check the settings and it shows access to all b/g/n configurations.
3) I have another phone i.e. the new Sony Xperia S, even that is not able to connect to my wifi.
4) I am able to connect both these phones very easily to other wifi's having WPA-PSK connectivity but just not my home network.
Kindly help as I have been struggling a lot to find for a proper solution over the internet.

I have a netgear router and when i try to connect my google tv, hp laptop and samsung galaxy phone it only works with the one touch button connect method . Recently did a ctmod 3.68 root on my samsung and now it wont connect even with the one touch button connect or correct password. It says authenticating then disconnecting then disabled. Ive tried rebooting the router but it didnt help. However it connects to any unsecured router without any problems. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
