Wet Android....

Mekalove

Lurker
Hello, the other day i was about to take a shower so i set my Droid Razr (the new one where you can't take the battery out) on the counter i guess my towel pushed it and it fell into the toilet . I QUICKLY took it out and set it in some rice, but i think it'd already drowned... it was in the water for a mere 2 seconds and it's been in the rice for over 24 hours now. I tried to turn it on when it was wet(stupid of me) but i tried to turn it on again today and the screen stays black. If i plug it in the green light won't "bleep" anymore...it just stays on. Did i officially messed up my phone? or can it still be saved? My parents don't have insurance on it i think so i can't go get a brand new one. Please help!!

I'd start searching eBay for some refurbished phones. Water is a phone's worst enemy. Avoid trying to turn it on for at least a week. Every time electricity tries to flow through it, can just fry another circuit.

There are some take apart guides for your phone on YouTube, which might help clean out any damage.

Thanks for joining our forums and hope to see you around :D

The biggest problem with phones with non-removable batteries when they get wet is that electrical current accelerates corrosion by orders of magnitude.

The best you can hope for is that the battery was already low and not too much damage was done.

As mentioned earlier, though, you might want to open the device up and discover how much damage has been done and assess the likelihood of repair.

If i put my SIM card in another phone would it work? I have Verizon (Droid Razr)? I know you have you to unlock the new phone right? and if it does work would it mess up my plan with the old phone?

my smart self (sarcasm) was using my phone in light rain, it started raining hard out of nowhere and my phone got soaked (Galaxy Note 2) it didnt turn on for a couple hours, checked the water marks, nothing was a different color...i left it in rice for the rest of the week and used another phone...after that, phone turned back on and worked perfect
