Help Wet S3 how to make it work again

Hi all

My wife has had her shiny new S3 for about 2 weeks and last night dropped it down the toilet

Ive take it all apart (battery, sim card and sd card) and dried as best I could.

Its been in like this since about 9.30 lst night so about 12 hrs so far. This morning ive given it a quick bust with a hair drier ti help it along.

Does anyone have any idea on how to get this thing working again ?

One ting to note. I previously dropped my old htc down the toilet and after a day or two it worked. As it wss dryi g some condensation appeared on the screen as it was drying yet on the s3 nothing of the sort.

Be as patient as you can before puttin any electricity near it mate. Put it in a bag of rice. Tbh if it was me id leave it about a week. You could be adventurous and soak it in 99% alcohol to remove the water. Good luck man :beer:

Bag of rice for a few days. The rice is supposed to pull out the moisture but I think it is more of a way to make you leave the phone alone for a few days. You've got to make sure it is 100% dry. Any moisture can fry the phone. When you think it is dry, leave it there another day. Better safe than sorry.

Any way you could get a little heat on/in it will help. Put it out in the sun some? Be careful with too much heat, though. If it's sunny, you could put it in the rice in the car with the windows closed - these phones are made to
stand that I expect - a Texas summer when it's 104 outside, though one might try to avoid that too much under normal circumstances.

Good Luck with the rice. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't. If you can do without your phone for few days, it's a cheap fix -- if it works. But don't be surprised if it doesn't. I got mine wet, did the rice thing, did NOT fix it. Had to buy a replacement through Asurion.

The big thing is just to make sure you don't try and power it on until its dry.

Its the power that damages the phone, not necessarily the water itself.
