What app are you using for Video chat?

Skype mobile doesn't work. I have Qik which is okay, but one user has to turn the phone upside down for both images to be oriented correctly. I also have tango, but haven't gotten too far with it yet.

You say that Skype does not work. As yet I have not installed Skype on my Galaxy S3 (UK) but on this forum there are subscribers who have Skype working OK. What problems do you have that cause you to say it does not work?

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I couldn't get connected to another S3 user. QiK is a skype based app I believe and it does work. Maybe my expectations are too high.

This does video? I understood (possibly misunderstood) that it was a text messenger type thing.

It does video and has done video since Android 2.3.3. However, most US carriers block the ability for it to use video chat and you would have to root to install the video chat version.

I guess it so you have to use the carrier's video chat service.

Ahh that must be the issue. Thanks.

I find Skype does work some times. It may work OK for a few hours then crash. Most times I have no success trying to log into Skype.

I tried Skype and it never allowed me to start video from the GS3 (although I could see it from the other caller)

I then used Tango, which worked.

Now today I see Skype has an update to the app. While it doesn't specifically mention GS3 fix, maybe I'll try it again.

Installed the updated Skype ver. 2.9.0.315 today. The app started and logs in but wont make any calls.

Tango works well IMO. QIK is skypes answer I think. It works okay, but one phone has to be upside down for both people to be viewed right side up? WTF?:questionmark:
I understand that there are alternative apps for Skype and that is good. However, all my family and friends are on Skype as we use it on our PCs.

tango all the way
i tried skype aaand it got annoying with its bugs , granted that was a while ago but i just couldn't stand the constant disconnect and recconect sounds it kept loosing connection tango just works.
