What is this notification for? Never seen it and can’t figure out what it is. Look like a heart?

We get this question almost on a daily basis. The problem is that there are millions of apps that use a notification icon. And there are probably thousands apps that uses a heart icon. And not all of them are dating icons. I would say majority of them are fitness, health, and self improvement apps. So unless it is something popular like Facebook or YouTube, most of these questions go unanswered.

Just ask the person what it is. Otherwise if this is your phone, then look in the notifications to find out what it is.

To know it, you can open the notification on your phone and then look at what it is able about. If you get
any app’s pop-up message with a heart that you don’t use then uninstall the app.

But almost certainly this symbol wasn't on the OP's phone.

The usual pattern is that someone in a relationship sends a screen shot to their partner. The partner sees a notification there that they don't recognise, and for whatever reason decides that the correct response is to ask a bunch of strangers on the Internet what it is rather than ask the sender.

It started a few years ago. No idea whether relationship insecurity increased around then (it was pre-covid) or whether the idea just caught on, though given how rarely we can give a definite answer its popularity can't be due to its success rate ;).
