What app to track/deactivate/lock phone?

I've heard about apps that allow you to track your phone if lost or stolen. Some can even make sure the ringer is on full to help you find it. Some can also lock the screen so the thief or someone who finds it cannot use it, until you find it and type in a code.

I searched a little and found a bunch of different options. Opinions for those that have used them? That have all the features I listed above? Especially being able to turn the ringer on, as I frequently have it on vibrate.

Check out Lookout. The ability to locate or lock a lost phone is part of a paid subscription, but the free version provides antivirus and back-up services.

Thanks for the tip. But there's no way in hell I'm paying a monthly subscription. I'll pay a few bucks for a sweet app, but NEVER monthly.

haha true. But you can lock the phone, and wipe all the data.

Being that I don't lose my phone often, I bet the main feature I will use is the "alarm" function that transmits an audible alarm to the phone. That'll help me find it in my house. lol

Thanks guys.

I use Where's My Droid and the free version of the antivirus program, Lookout. Neither of them will lock your phone. But if you call your cellular service provider, they can temporarily deactivate the phone (from making phone calls). I've done that before.

Where's My Droid is nice because you can just send the phone a secret text message (of your choosing) and it will text you back a Google-Maps link with its coordinates. But I think the phone's GPS has to be turned on already. You can also send it a secret text message (of your choosing) and it will turn up the volume full blast and make it ring.

LookOut is nice because it has antivirus functionality, and you can sign into their website, remotely turn on the phone's GPS receiver, and track the phone on their website. You can also make the phone turn up its volume and play a loud siren sound.
