Announcing an incoming email/text?

Some time my phone will say "Text from so and so" or "New email".

This is useful during the day but at night when it is sitting next to my bed it is annoying. It does it even with the phone set to vibrate only.

Turn Sync off before going to bed, re-initiate it in the morning.

Thanks for the tip. Does anyone have any idea what app is responsible for this? I suspect it is Google Voice but not sure.

I think it might be the text to speech settings, under the Voice input and output section of the settings. Disable the Driving Mode option.

Or it could have been Google Voice. Since I installed it my phone does not talk to me anymore.

Probably voice talk's "driving mode" is on.
