My music, pictures and videos are on external SD

lol nice ... might as well check and try those other apps ;)
as for your 26 and 27 (both converters)...i would suggest unit converter as it does both

as for fontomizer ...i noticed when you install and use some fonts there are some incompatibilities with some apps like the calculator so i use the stock fonts on phone instead

and i have heard of bazaar from bazaarandroid.com wherein they said you can download paid apps for free.i have not tried it yet though

OMFG! chanchan05! lol! talking bout lots!
i got mine with less apps as possible cause im too concerned bout my battery life. im out everyday (work) and never bring my charger with me. props to you man! your'e the man!

If you read all the descriptions, you'll actually find them all useful at one point or another. I get to use almost all of them depending on the situation, :). I'm not really concerned about battery life because I'm a student, so I'm 6am-9pm at school (with charger), and even if I go out, I do battery saving (turn off data) naman, and the phone lasts 12hrs or more, and I wont be usually out that long, and I also bring a data cable (for charging, just go to netopia, LOL). I'm one of those guys who wants to make the most out of his phone. Besides I wont worry about depleting my battery thru music player because I use my 5800XM primarily for that.

Besides, I see my phone as my link to my PC and my cloud data, and its supposed to make my life easier and more organized, so I use it as much potential I can get from it. Looking at a Nokia WP7 or Win8 tablet with SIM capabilities next (to retire my 5800). I dont believe in using same manufacturers (ala iPhone+iPad) simply because you'll be stuck with the same limitations. I use different manufacturers, then the limitations of one can be overcome by the other, you just have to find complementing devices.

Apps r very useful in our daily lives krospyke. U just need to find the right ones you need. I opened this thread so it would give me more ideas on what to test especially those used by kababayans. My phone mory is limited since i dont have that much money to burn. So im more picky wid my apps but it doesnt stop me from installing more if i find it useful. As chanchan said...we should make use of our phones capabilities.

I'm actually regretting not getting a Galaxy S (or waited for S2). Using either of those, I would have had more than enough space for my DropBox(3gb) and SugarSync(7gb) accounts to sync to my phone, plus whatever media files I wanted using a card. Currently I'm only syncing selected folders to my phone via sugarsync. Anyway, I'll be getting a tablet next and it would be better to sync my documents/spreadsheets and OneNote to a tablet anyway instead of a phone, so in the end my phone does what I need it to.

I also recently just installed UberMusic. Awesome music app. Very nice and pretty UI. Basically its a copy of the Windows Phone 7 music app UI.

bilib ako sa inyong dalawa. sadly, limited talaga ang kaalaman ko pagdating sa mobile phones. i just used it mainly for communications and some common apps. sa laptop lang kasi ako nagdedepend pagdating sa mga programs/apps. pero na inspire ako sa inyo. keep it up bros!
by the way, rooted na ba units nyo? and are you using custom roms?

p.s. > nanghihinayang din ako at di galaxy s ang nabili ko. in my case, naubusan ako dito. na phase out. wala na kong makita kahit saang stores. ayoko nman ng 2nd hand. pero im sure kung nagtyaga, baka nakakuha pa ko. kaso, atat e. lol! anyway, satisfied na rin nman ako dito sa sl, being new to android. (and smartphones in general)

i have not rooted my phone nor did i try
you might lose your warranty if something wrong happens, sayang naman yung 1 year warranty hehehe
i also wanted a galaxy s pero short sa pera so i had no choice but i didnt regret getting it
dami pa brandnew galaxy s phones dito sa mindanao 19-21k range while i got the sl last june for 16.7k

this is my first taste of android since my old phones were (nokia 3230 for 3 years then samsung s7330 for 2 years)

ano mga apps mo krospyke?
line of work or lifestyle? maybe me and chanchan can suggest some apps you could use and find interesting

i would recommend you to install an antivirus though just to be safe
just pick one from lookout OR antivirus by AVG .... (i use lookout)
a few malwares on android have been discovered lately (the last one i heard was one posing as google+ which records your calls and send copies of your calls/sms to a website)

Galaxy S sells for 25k sa official Samsung Stores dito sa Manila. May mga freebies saka official ang warranty support plus phone replacement pag may factory defect ang phone (hindi lang basta repair warranty, bibigyan ka bago), kaya ayun. :)

I bought SL kasi first Android, not sure if I'd like it so I didnt want to splurge. Ever since I got my first smartphone 3 years ago (5800), I went ahead and learned everthing about smartphone capabilities and is now using my phones now as an extension of my PC. For the record, Mobile Guru ako sa Nokia Support Discussions (Official Nokia Forum).

For example, I forgot my hard copy of my Biochemistry notes that I printed. I have a soft copy on OneNote on my laptop, (whose notebooks I import regularly to Evernote). So I open Evernote on my phone, I can read my notes din because my notes are on a cloud server. Or if a friend recommends a movie for me to see, I open SpringPad, click on "Look It Up" and type in the movie title. The app will look at the NetFlix database and I will get a plot summary and cast/director/producer and poster info. I pin this to my "Movies to See" Notebook. When I get home, I open Chrome, click on my SpringPad extension, look up my Notebook and then search for the movie if its available online. :) Or maybe I need access to a certain Ebook, tapos nasa field ako or far from a library, but I have a copy of my Ebook on a folder synced to either my DropBox or SugarSync account. I open either app, download the Ebook, then read it using PDF reader or MoonReader+ (depende sa format).

Of course these services are applicable only if you are connected to the internet, but they're very handy. You just need to know what you want from your phone, and just set it up the way you want to.

mga apps ko, purely for lifestyle only. mga common lng. some are widgets lng for aesthetic purposes. yun lng...hehehehe

1.widgetlocker - lockscreen
2.battery solo widget - battery info sa lockscreen (full screen mode kasi ako sa lockscreen, hidden ang status bar)(just installed recently)
3.battery indicator - battery info sa status bar (on my homescreens)
4.bobclock - clock on lockscreen
5.txmissed - on lockscreen
6.minimalistic txt - date/weather/time

7.mortplayer - i prefer folder based playlist/library. and mainly because it has no equalizer.

im curious on how to really install a widget on my lockscreen
do i need another app for that?
i dont have widgetlocker since its paid and i dont have a card
theme i use is windows 7 by SAF but i changed my lockscreen wallpaper with one from gallery
how do i install widgets on lockscreen?

widgetlocker ay parang homescreen din. long press ka lang sa screen (tool mode), lalabas yung option to put widgets. sa stock lockscreen di talaga pede.

You need a lockscreen that enabled widgets, or an app that can show widgets over lock screen (MixZing can put a music player widget over the lockscreen). I dont put widgets on lockscreen because I put a pattern lock on it.

tnx for the answer guys. im on stock lockscreen sadly
i was hoping to put a clock and battery widget on the lockscreen as i would find them useful since i wont have to unlock to check.

many pinoys like me prefer to check time on phone rather than the watches we wear. kinda weird to develop such a habit :p

nope. i use a photo from my gallery for my full lockscreen wallpaper from my display settings
thats why widgets for lockscreens would have been useful

i dont get it. like what chanchan05 said, i do see time and notification bar in my stock lockscreen. i did put a wallpaper taken from my gallery.

screenshot nung stock lockscreen with image from my gallery:

it appears black and i do remember that before so i might have messed up something since a developer friend of mine has been experimenting with some things. it also happened to his ace. i might do a factory reset if problems still persists after removing his test apps.

another thing. i installed battery solo widget and i noticed thst my battery drains a bit faster now compared to before app intallation. app on market says it doesnt drain but i noticed differently as it was the only app i installed recently. hmmmm. did it happen to any of u?

havent notice any difference on battery use at all. but i did notice that the stock battery indicator ( the one in the notification bar) is not very accurate. a battery widget (any) will show 60 or 70% left while the stock still shows almost full bar.

Stock battery will show full if the charge of the battery is between 80-100%, then it will indicate drops every 20-25%. Basically a 50% battery will show a battery bar that's 3/4 full. This is also the reason why Nokia's have 7 bars, once you go below 70%, that's when it starts detecting. It's the same for most phones because its practically impossible to accurately depict battery percentage on Li-ion batteries above 80% due to the very small amperage difference. additional widgets compute percentage either through discharge rate compared to battery capacity or through extended usage calculations (averaging lifespan).

Hi! Anyone knows how to improve the signal of SL? i've been using SL for a month already, during this long weekend i went home to Batangas. i noticed i cannot send/received incoming and outgoing sms/calls in my galaxy SL. and it flashes i can only have emergency calls only. im a suncellular user. it doesn't happen to my previous phone (samsung star wifi). i checked the mobile network under settings, i searched for networks, it can only detect Globe. It's also weird because the signal bar on the screen has 2 bars how come i cant use my sun number. i ended up using my old phone (samsung star) during this long weekend so as not to miss important txts and calls.
