What Are Referrals?

Not a big question, just curious really, what exactly are the "referrals" on our profiles? It says that I have "4" referrals and just curious what it means. It's on the page of our profiles under "Statistics" towards the very bottom of the page.

Really now? I totally forgot about that part. I had invited some people I know personally but they never got on but maybe some other people came. I don't know lol, just curious. Thanks.
 
And there's no way to see who it was. I have one but I have no idea who it is.
 
lol same I have one too and I really wanna know who put my name in that space because I never "referred" this forum to anyone else...
 
OK, how about people with Paid memberships, or ppl who are staff, have at least one referral?
 
Hrm. I don't recall ever having referred anyone, but who knows? I've definitely told ppl about this place, and I use my Profile page on most sites like Disqus and WP blogs, so who knows?

But, if that were the case, only one person ever used my name? lol....

I've been a member for almost 2 years without one single referral :( *sniffs*

Though I don't really tell many people that I am a member on here...especially when I wore the Red badge...I mean, everyone thought I was a geek for my obsession with Android. If they knew I was much more integrated with the Forum, it would be bad for my appearance and reputation. I like to keep my geekiness a secret if I can, lol.
