I want to get a Note 4 from Verizon.
What is the advantage of pre-ordering? Price, delivery?
Are there any down sides other than not doing a hands on eval?

This is why: $200 price bridge. Samsung will send a rebate check of up to $200 (whatever the difference of a store trade-in.)

Example: You trade in a phone and get $10 trade in, Samsung will send you a $190 check. Must follow the conditions of course. This is for pre-orders only and the offer stops on 10/16- just before devices are in stores.

Oh, trade in a phone to any local store? Then Samsung pay the difference up to $200?

What if the phone is own is already fully paid? The store would want it?
 
Con: your phone might arrive AFTER they're available in stores. Like my Note 3 did. Unless you're in a large city where demand will likely be higher than supply... but then, an extra $200 discount might make it worth your while! :)

Was personally holding out for the edge, but this deal is too good to pass on.

Do we use this program, or is there a special one for the Samsung deal that has to be used?

BTW, the Incredible is only worth $5 in the program, so that would be $195 from Samsung.... They must really fear the iPhone 6 Plus.
 
From everything I read in the rebate link and the vzw site, this way gives you all the documentation you need to prove you did the pre order and the trade in.

Fine print on the samsung rebate page says there is a $ 190 max limit for the deal, but yeah pretty much offering $200 for every pre order shows some concern over their sales numbers.

So my Incredible ain't getting me to $200. Boo! Five dollars short.

Albeit not at the same level - I'd almost say the same about ATT & Verizon offering $200-$300 value for any iPhone 4 and up.

And frankly - I am not concerned at all. Every year with each iPhone, the media predicts Samsung's and/or Android's demise and it comes out far from ever being true. At the end of the day, take away the big screen and it's still the same closed iOS that I think is the reason why people went to Android.

Seriously - the folks that are switching from Android to the 6 plus.... was it really just the bigger screen availability that attracted you to Android? I mean, I can't imagine why you'd switch to the iPhone otherwise.
 
I was originally going to hold off on the Note 4 for a few months However the $200 deal enticed me into pre ordering with Verizon. $299 with 2 yr agreement, minus $200 so it only cost $99 on contract for a brand new Note 4. Not bad I'd say :D
 
I have an old HTC touch Pro 2 and my current Samsung S3. Do you think that I can trade in my old HTC against the Samsung pre-order promotion and keep my S3 as a backup?

I think you'd have to find out how much the HTC would fetch in the trade-in. I am thinking that the HTC touch pro 2 would not reach the $10 minimum value.

That being said - I'm not entirely sure what Samsung means by minimum $10 value. I mean - it starts off to say "any working smartphone" but then it says that the minimum trade in value is $10 and the max check you'll get from Samsung is $190.

So, does that mean if you have a phone that has a trade in value of less than $10 (and even down to 0.00) - that you can still take advantage of this offer and get a $190 check..

Or, does that mean that that phone is ineligible and you must find a phone to trade in that has at least a $10 value in order to take advantage?

I have a HTC Desire and Droid Charge that has a trade-in worth 0.00 and $6 respectively (with ATT) but I figured I'd have to trade in my Inspire that has a $10 value in order to do this deal. (Which I don't mind!)

There really isn't any advantage to pre-ordering per say other than getting the phone before its available in stores. Which isn't always the case BTW. No price difference or anything else.

Also if you don't pre-order, supplies may run out and the phone may not be available when you go to get one. Pre-order assures you will get the phone as soon as its released.
 
I'm not sure if I should pre-order.

I've always upgraded my phone and just sold my old phone on my own.

I've also read about the $200 rebate. Doesn't make sense to me. I can get alot more than that for my Note 3.

What should I do?

No the rebate is intended for those who have an old phone stuck in a draw that still has some trade in value. Clearly a Note 3 is worth more than $200, so it wouldn't make sense for you to do the trade in.
 
This "deal" is beginning to not add up. Their legal would have reviewed before publishing this and not had the "Any working phone" and the $10 minimum contradicting.

Also, Samsung appears to know nothing about this deal. One hand of Samsung not knowing what the other is doing, or elaborate hoax? That said, if anyone has THAT much free time to concoct a fake deal, jeesh.

Were it not for the Best Buy deal appearing to replicate, I would lean it is bogus now.

Added: This seems Samsung desperate if it is real. Analysts are in sync that a huge market share is about to be shifted to Apple via the iPhone 6 models. Once again, my powers in-my-own-mind impress me with their extrapolating abilities of the market :) ;)

More Apple dominance though equals :(

My wife is looking to trade our daughter's iphone in for a $300 credit, she traded her older iphone in for a $200 credit. Samsung is just trying to match apple for trade in value. On verizon, it lists my note 2 trade in as $65.00. Much better return value for an apple.

This is what I'm curious about as well. I would trade in my original Droid, but it is only valued at $1. I don't care about $191 vs $200, I just want to make sure it is still eligible.
 
I just called TMobile to make sure I was on the Jump program and I am. The lady said TMobile is starting pre-orders tomorrow. I will be doing that. Then on release date, which she confirmed as Oct. 17th, I go into the store, give them my Note 3 and I get the Note 4!! I can't wait!

If it's below the minimum you get nothing. Less than $10 and you don't qualify, at all.
 
By that i mean if your phone trade in value is $9.99 then you don't qualify. It has to be $10.00 or more.
