What are you listening to?

Vince Guaraldi was a very well respected jazz pianist that the general public never heard of before the Charley Brown Christmas exposed him to the masses. I'm glad he got the recognition he deserved.

He did have one hit in the 1960s, but it wasn't near the exposure that Charlie Brown provided.

The article mentions that and as I understood it Lee Mendelson heard “Winds” (which is itself outstanding) and knew Guaraldi was the man to tap for the Peanuts music.

Boy was he right!

"Vladimir and Olga"

T'was a hot September, the hottest I can remember
We took the children in the Lada
And headed for the warm climbs in Odessa
I'd worked hard the whole season...

"Vladimir and Sergei"

Vladimir and Olga spent several years in the health resort in the Urals
Our mother country cares for its children
And it was their own good, that their insanity should be properly treated.
When they were cured they were guaranteed employment
Since this an important aspect of the Soviet constitution....

The German teacher and I often sing this after a few beers.
Augustus Gloop, Augustus Gloop
The great big greedy nincompoop
Augustus Gloop, so big and vile
So greedy, foul, and infantile.

Vladimir and the Beast"

During our brief stay in Afghanistan, we had discovered
Some of the very few pleasures open to visitors
To this desolate place, a local concoction called Hashish
Was being increasingly used by our troops
And many of the helicopter gunship and tank crews
Moreover would smoke large chillums and joints

I used to detest the BCRs when I was 11, in 1974. But I've been listening to some of their songs again, now I'm 59. They're not bad IMO, and certainly better than anything that's in the UK charts now.

I was listening to this "young"group a few hours ago, texting my cousin and just singing along.
Reminds me of something I used to keep within my head ages ago..
