What are you using to supplement your battery?

I just got my N5 yesterday and am excited about digging in. Coming from a Samsung Galaxy Nexus I got very used to carrying two spare batteries with me at all times since that phone was a huge battery hog. Wondering if you guys make it thru a full day with one charge, or if not, what are you using to supplement your battery? I'm a pretty heavy user and concerned what I'm going to do on days away from the office or weekend days spent outside when I won't be near a charger, since there is no way to access the battery port and switch out for a fully juiced extra battery. Love to hear your experiences. Thanks as always you guys!
 
I make it through my average day 95% of the time no issue on one full charge.

For those rare times, I don't I carry this:
Astro Slim,External Batteries,Power|ANKER

about the same size as a Nexus 5 and about the same weight. The part I like, you can connect it to charge and cradle it behind your phone while charging. So you can grip your phone and use it normally while you emergency charge it.
 
The battery life on the nexus 5 is way better than the galaxy nexus. The hardware has come a long way since then, the CPU's are much more efficient.

I almost never have problems making it through the day. I used to have an external charger with me in my backpack, but its left at home now.

Just as a precaution if I know I'm going to be out late that night I'll top the battery off at work around lunch to make sure it wont die until the morning

All of this depends on your usage patterns though. If you are a super heavy user you may have to top it off.
 
I get through a day with about 45% left, and that's with bluetooth on all day connected to my Pebble Smart Watch, and WiFi on but not connected until I get in at 5.30pm. I do have a Veho Pebble (not to be confused with the Pebble watch.) battery charger in my bag, but cant remember the last time I had to use it. Playing games drains it fast, but a few texts, some youtube and a phone call or 2 every day and it seems to last really well.
 
I'm a light user, because I'm usually busy during the day, so I can make it through roughly 3 days on a single charge. Idle Battery life with my kernel/rom combo is awesome. I took the phone off the charger 3 hours ago and I'm still at 99% and I've been off wifi/on lte all day.
 
A battery charger lol.
Until the update my battery was good enough for my daily use,since the update it's draining down faster.
 
Wow, I can't believe all you guys make it a full day. If I'm out of the office, I'm down to 30% or less by 2:00 PM (noteworthy because my days usually start around 10:00 AM).

I'm a pretty heavy user, but this battery is underwhelming. I feel like I'm constantly tethered to a charger. Thankfully, my lifestyle allows it, and wireless charging makes it so it isn't really a hassle.

Today I've been out and about for 3 hours, taken 4 phone calls and streamed an hour or so of music through Slacker (cached station, not using data) and I'm already at 64%. Yikes.
 
Was getting a full day easy before 4.4.3, now by 6pm my battery is seriously low.

Could be an app conflict although I'm more inclined to think it's signal strength somehow for whatever reason.
 
I got off the charger 6 hours ago, have streamed podcasts for the past 2 hours, took a short ~10 phone call, did some texting, gotten reminders from google now, and am at sitting pretty at 75%.

~I'll stream probably about another hour of podcasts today and 3.5 hours from now I'll head home and still be above 60%.
 
I also came from a Galaxy Nexus to the Nexus 5 and there is a big difference in battery life. I had the GNex on Verizon which was also supposed to be the worst for battery because I read it used up more because of the 4G LTE.

With the Nexus 5, if I charge it up in my car, I don't need to recharge it the entire 8 hours I'm at work, and I only charge it up on the drive home to keep it from dropping to 50% but it would probably last the rest of the day.

I have portable chargers if I'm going to be out all day but unless I'm using it all day it lasts pretty long. I also have it rooted so I can use apps like SetCPU and Greenify though.

ETA: I should also mention that on 4.4.2 I was using Cataclysm ROM, and for 4.4.3 I'm using Purity ROM (each with the kernel it came with), both seem to be pretty good on battery life, compared to the more feature-heavy ROMs. I also have a charger at home, in my car, at work, and one I can take with me if I'm going to someone's home, or a portable one I mentioned if I'll be out.
 
I always carry portable chargers and that would supplement the time until i get home. Usually my charge drops real low. so it really helped me! I got mine from boxwave but there are others. so there are a wide range of selections. if you want deals. its on Amazon.
 
Thanks everyone, appreciate all the feedback and comments. Looking forward to seeing what kind of juice I get from this bad boy. The thought of going without any backup is giving me too much anxiety so i just purchased the anker astro mini portable charger. Got great reviews on Amazon and looks like it'll fit in my pocket, so gonna see how it goes. I'll check back in a week to share my experiences if anyone is interested. Thanks again!
 
I can generally make it through a day with no issues, but lately I've found I have less battery left at the end of the day. I have a car charger, charger at work and a usb cable in my laptop bag so I'm pretty much never short of a charging option.
 
Even when I've ran a setup that drained battery quite a bit I still have never ran out in a day. I get an average of 4-5 hrs screen time and 12-13 total now using rastakat stockui and reanimated kernel r54. I use Dr West's settings as he has them in his op. Stable as can be and I'm loving it. :)
 
My Nexus 5 is on day 3 running version 4.4.4

It's absolutely terrific! Fixed the battery drain that existed on 4.4.3. Much to my delight Google also pushed it to my Nexus 7.

My N5 lasts the whole day without getting below 50%. I'm running rooted Stock 4.4.4 (as of today) with Franco Kernel r54. I also use the BatteryGuru app.
 
I changed my settings from 4G(recommended) to 3G and today my battery is lasting twice as long.Is this just a coincidence or do you think the changes are the cause.As far as signal strength is concerned it's no worse or slightly better and i don't need 4G as there is none where i live.
 
My phone has always lasted longer on 3G data as oppose to 4G.

I think many people here will be happy with Project Volta on Android L, it's really rather impressive how effective it is.

That's interesting. Mine is also set to 4G (default) yet, despite my provider stating it is available in some areas locally, I have yet to experience it. So I have reverted to 3G as an experiment.
 
Well I've given it some time now and, to be quite honest, I have noticed no difference between 3G and 4G settings with regard to battery life.
