Help What can I do to free more memory storage space?

I'm sure this was already asked a billion times already, but anyway:

So, I've been getting those "Storage memory running low" messages lately. Checking under settings I had around 100MB free, so I decided it was time to free some memory space by the usual means. I bought a new 16GB external SD card and readied to move stuff in there.

Before staring the process, I had 1.98GB of used up space.

So I:
-Moved every song/video/image to EXT SD
-Moved every app (via Androids settings) to EXT SD

Incredibly enough, the used up space rose to 2.02GB. I didn't know what to think.

Then I:
-Cleared caches of most apps. I left the 7 or so with 12KB of cache.
-Cleared most message threads.
-Uninstalled 2/3 apps I didn't use anymore.

Then my free space was 376MB. And used space was 2.01GB.
I've heard someone saying certain log files use up lots of storage but I run a search for "log" on the entire system and found nothing.

I'm asking if there are any other means to free memory storage space. I don't get any more "Memory warnings" now, but having only around 370MB of internal memory seems kind of odd to me.
I also began to wonder if I didn't perhaps catch any virus/malware that fills up memory randomly.

Any idea? Thanks in advance.

Current status:
***Total Storage: 4GB***
-System Memory: 1.81GB
-Used Space: 2.01GB
-Cached Data: 6.62MB
-Misc. Files: 187MB
-Available Space: 376MB

Running Android 4.4.4 on a Samsung.
