Jackson is still saying the EVO will be released on June 6th or June 13th. My intentions are not to say he is wrong - he might not be. I just believe only Dan Hesse and the higher ups actually know the actual release date and they're not saying. I also believe at one time Sprint was planning a June release, but they forced Apple's hand, and they set their WWDC convention right smack into EVO's rumored release dates. E-I-E-I-O started me thinking about the May 22nd release date and the more I thought about it, the more it seemed like the sweet spot to me.
These are my reasons for thinking the May 22nd release is possible:
.
We have a forum member I call Old MacDonald, because his screen name is eieio and on this farm he had a pig, E-I-E-I-O. Anyway, you get the idea. He was the one that initially gave me the 22nd date. He felt June 6th and June 13th were dates planted by Sprint to throw off the competition and it worked, because Apple picked the June 7-11 for their convention. That set things up for Sprint to release the phone in May - not June. I would just like to add that eieio is an insider and works with WiMAX. He said he was between a technician and a manager (whatever that is) and I have reason to believe he has one of the EVO test units.
Someone suggested in the other thread that we have a poll with different dates, so that's why the change. So far, eieio and I are the only ones going with May 22nd, but everyone has a chance to vote, if you want to.
These are my reasons for thinking the May 22nd release is possible:
.
1) Rumors are saying the phone is ready and is being shipped to warehouses. SP even said it was ready, but they're still working on it. That probably means OTA updates will be downloaded to your phone when you go to set it up.
2) The media blitz begins on May 12th at a NYC event, then continues on May 17th in Los Angeles.
3) The rumored release date of June 6th or June 13th confirmed by Jackson falls right into Apple's WWDC conference taking place June 7 - 11. Releasing the EVO 4G in the middle of that conference would be a disaster, because Apple is going to be getting all the media attention.
4) If the EVO 4G is ready, releasing the phone in May makes sense as far as being able to capture media attention and buzz. It would be the perfect opportunity to deliver a knockout punch.
5) May 22nd makes perfect sense, because the following weekend is Memorial Day weekend and a lot of people will be out of town.
6) May 15th is two days before the May 17th LA event, so that date doesn't make any sense.
7) The weekend after Memorial Day is June 5th which brings us to the beginning of WWDC where Apple will be getting all the media coverage. I can't see a June release.
8) Sprint is the sponsor of the Charlotte Motor Speedway All-Star NASCAR Race on May 22nd. Seems to me, fast cars and fast phones go together.
9) May 22nd is only 10 days after the EVO 4G will be announced in NYC on May 12th. Everyone is going to want the phone ASAP. Making people wait until June 13th would be very painful. We ALL know that. Why get the buzz going, then let everyone down?

Speculation Post by me:
Just for fun I am going to drop a speculative post like Bill on why I think May 22nd is the date.
NY and LA are lit up and probably on track for the dates of the Premieres.
The June dates I think where read herrings to throw the competition off
The specs listed are partially true but will be much better than advertised
The device released to stores are not complete devices with full specs, but demos for training and the real specs will be revealed on launch date.
4g is a must for this device to shine.. Yeah the specs are good but it shines on 4g..
4g roll out is going better than expected.
The I-Phone.. The fake dates are so competitors get relaxed or try to plan an offense/defensive..
I have heard from two sources the phone is complete and ready to ship, but they wanted to be prepared for demand and not be sold out. So the units on hand will be staggering..
No BB advance notice, everyone will get it at the same time to avoid leaks to the public..
I have know for a fact that the 4g coverage is greater than advertised.. It might not all be turned on at one time but the roll out is further along than advertised.
As much as the consumer/you guys want this phone.. Business and industries have been pre-sold on this device and wimax services..
Wimax is going to be huge.. LTE is more hype right now.. Wimax is a home run..
