What do YOU search for when looking for a game?

We were just wondering how people find their games from Google Play Store. Sure many just click the first pretty icon they see on the screen, but when looking for a specific type of a game, how people do this?

So when you want to play a new game YOU want to play, what do you search for? What is the search phrase YOU type in the search bar?

I could tell my answer first but that could affect your responses so I'll add that as a comment tomorrow :D
 
The way I usually look for games is not by genre or by top lists (sometimes I do this) but by thinking about a genre that might fit the moment I'm in.

Here's an example situation: I'm watching some old movie on TV and I get the urge to try to find a game that fits the theme of the movie and I start looking for something in that way. Watching something like Die Hard would make me look for a game with sneaking and attacking bad guys, probably would end up downloading a Batman game.

Another example: I'm in a boring physics class (won't happen again because I've graduated a long time ago) with nothing to do. I'll start searching for a puzzle game with a science theme, I'd end up downloading Pudding Monsters.

Right now Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is starting on TV. You bet I'll be playing Temple Run during commercials :D
 
I could answer if I could pay for apps where I live... This way I spend hours searching for free games that would fit my taste....
 
If I'm searching the Play Store, it's for a specific game or app. I find out about new stuff by recommendations here, other Android related places, video game sites, or stuff that's on sale.

Sometimes I might do a Google search if I'm looking for an Android game similar to a game on another platform. e.g. Android game similar to Advance Wars
 
Sometimes El P will let me know of good games. Others I stumble on via other sources or the Amazon FAOTD. The best luck now that I have been using Android for a couple of years is similar games in both Play and Amazon.

Thanks for pointing that out! I didn't know that I could scroll left from the Home button!

I usually look at the various top lists, such as top selling new and top new games. However, I find many of the games there look suspicious as they can have 10,000,000+ downloads in under a month and can be so bad that they are unplayable.
 
I have search with terms that games that I liked, for example

If I want to play action game, then i search with the best action game or top 10 action or adventures games.
 
I don't bother with search much because its pretty useless, it returns loads of popular games with less relevance, most of which I have already tried and binned. I just drill down and down and down until I find something :)
