I think they are both right to a certain degree. We have the Big Brother that Orwell talked about, but at the same time we have the constant distractions of pop culture to make us forget about Big Brother that Huxley talked about. Hell, the TV show Big Brother is just the type of distraction that Huxley talked about.

It is rather comical sometimes, but if you pay attention to politics you'll start to notice a huge celebrity scandal is being broadcast 24/7 when something big is going on in Washington. A perfect example is the Tiger Woods sex scandal and the Healthcare Bill. The media were playing the scandal non-stop while the healthcare bill was being passed. If I was a conspiracy theorist, I would say that the media was being pushed by Washington to focus on anything outside of politics when they have something going down. But, that would just be crazy paranoid, right?

I think that loving what will hate will be our undoing though.
