What does it take to get a SIMPLE app developed?

I haven't the foggiest idea how this all works, but I figured I would throw out a request.

I am wanting to see what it would take to get a very basic app developed that ties in to an extremely simple website that I created. We made a joke website about getting a date for our friend, named Levi. We went one step further and made a Facebook page. Then a Twitter account. Then handed out fliers. We figured that getting an app developed would take it to the next level.

Just looking for something that links to the site, maybe has a few pictures of Levi, and a couple of his "facts".

The mods got a little upset when I made a thread asking about the website, so I won't post it in this thread, though my signature might be helpful (hint, hint).

What do you think could be made REALLY easily? What would it take from a developer to get this on the market? Time? Resources? Educate me please!

I can make such an app for you. Send me a PM if you are interested. I can show you some of the apps that I've got that aren't quite done yet.

This wouldn't take more than a few hours for anyone with the right software installed and a few beginner tutorials behind them.

Thanks for the information. If you could help me out, what sort of software do I need and are you aware of a good starting point for tutorials? I'm self taught at Photoshop and just learned myself how to do a basic design of a website (the one I mentioned in the OP), so I have the capacity for learning the basics, if possible.

Yes, and that was the answer to his question, nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah, I hear ya.

I was just focused on the title of the thread.

Not entirely different than I asking how to do image editing and someone telling me
to install PhotoShop. While I do have a copy of PS I am incapable of doing image editing that
is worth doodly squat.

I won't say that it is easy, because it isn't, but you can teach yourself. That is what I did. I wouldn't say I'm an expert, but I can do some pretty impressive things with Photoshop and my only education was a few YouTube videos and a lot of tinkering. I hope that, at some point, I can at least get to the basics of app development as well. Especially if I can start by editing an existing app, rather than building one from scratch.

I dunno, anything beyond a basic button and I am better off hiring someone else to do it for me.

In the link that I posted above are the official tutorials for making most of what you'd want at the beginner level. List- and GridViews, WebViews, Map Intents and more, Nothing harder than copy pasting examples.

It's actually really easy.

Go through the tutorials and you'll get all the basics, enough to easily make the suggested app in the first post.

Sorry, my post was less than clear. When I said Button I meant creating graphics to be used in applications. That is the part I would hire someone else to do. I've got the application part down pat as I've been commercially developing software for several decades. So far Android programing seems very straight forward. At least as straight forward as something created by Java freaks can be.

From my perspective the creation of programs is the easy part. My bigger problem is what to create. Hence, I'm browsing this forum. :)
