Help What Does Rooting do?/Conversation Recorder

Tippa

Newbie
Hello everyone,

Didn't want to make several threads

1) What does rooting do? and is it hard to do?

2) Is my S3 on Ice Cream Sandwich whatever that is?

3) I want to use Total Recorder for my S3, will he record my voice and the person I'm speaking to? Will I able to use it on S3 fresh out of the box?

There is an "all things root" subforum for most major models of the S3, at the top of this forum.

Choose your device and enter teh sub forum. In here is an "All things root guide" sticky thread that will tell you all about rooting.

1. Rooting gives you root access(lets you modify/delete files you would not without this access)lets you install apps that require root access. If its hard or not depends on the person but there is lots of guides, watch a youtube video on it and make you own decission if you can follow what the video is doing or not.

2. Yes you should have ICS out of the box

3. Not sure what that is

1) Ready this...Why Root - Android Wiki The difficulty all depends on how tech savy you are. To me rooting is easy.

2) Most likely it's ICS. Go to settings scroll to the bottom and select About Phone. If you are on version 4.0 your are ICS if you are 4.1 your are Jelly Bean

3) I don't know anything about this app. But, be careful, in some areas it's illegal to record a conversation without the other party giving you permission to do so.

Thanks for your help

Can Rooting damage the phone?

If you are asking these questions you are not ready to root your phone.

Read the forums, get an understanding, gather everything you need then proceed if you feel confident. If the language and terms people use in the rooting threads confuses you then wait a while and do more research.
