Help what does the "cameratest" app do?

Hi,

When I updated my Verizon Note 2 to 4.4.2, there were new apps in the app section. One was called "cameratest" and had a green Android critter as an icon. I could find nothing about what it does on the WEB, or in Playstore. Neither Playstore, or Samsung support knew anything about it. I did not copy it to any other page - I tried launching it from the app section on the Note 2. I got a crash message and nothing else - so I deleted it.

I'd still like to know what it was for - even though I don't seem to have any problems without it. Anyone know what it does?

There are other apps like that - "Contacts" is a good example. I know what it does - I use it on a regular basis - but Playstore and Samsung know nothing about it - so when I have questions, or suggestions (like why won't it allow me to assign a unique alert tone for incoming email from a specific contact) - there is no one in charge to ask.

Any thoughts?

No idea on the camera test, but assigning individual tones per contact usually depends on the email app used, not the contacts app.

Camera test is reading my messages in the background all the time . The permission's that it defauted itself ARE ALL OF THEM.!!! Plus I can't remove or even deny the permissions. Spy programs like this let you know how sic android is.

I also have this app and cannot uninstall, disable or force stop and all permissions are all there as well which I cannot do anything with either. Decided to check what was up after some suspicious activities on my phone. Does anyone know what can be done with these permissions if it is a spyware app? Thanks

cameratest from what i can understand is an application that monitors hardware to software.
