What does the E and H stand for in the notification bar

What does the E and H stand for in the notification bar. I looked it up in the manual and it says the E is for Edge. What is that? I guess the H stands for 3G for some strange reason. The manual doesn't say anything about 4G and what it will read when it has 4G reception. I've never seen it say anything but E or H.

So your saying edge is 3G and H is wanta-be-4G. The manuel is a bit confusing. It states.....

E = Displays when your phone is communicating with the
EDGE network.
H = Displays when your phone is communicating with the
HSPA+ or 3G network.

According to the manuel if the H is showing you cannot tell if it is 3G or HSPA+(wanta-be-4G). Is there a way to find out what your on?

Nope. Sadly not, but then again most of the network is hspa+ now so its pretty much 4g
