What exactly is touchwiz?

I know that may sound dumb, but honestly I am not too up to speed on that. I assume it is like motoblur and sense...but my question is actually what makes touchwiz...touchwiz? I hear people complain about it, and I just don't see anything to complain about. I like my S3 as it is. What does touchwiz actually consist of? What are the differences? Can anybody clear this up for me so I don't feel so stupid about it anymore =P

It is the stock launcher interface that comes with the phone. It has many similarities to other Android interfaces, but Samsung puts a bit of its own flavor on it.

well its not just the launcher. its the entire user interface. When you pull down the notification bar, that is TW. The settings menu, lockscreen, and anything you can see is touchwiz. if you change the launcher, you no longer have the TW launcher, but everything else remains TW.

basically the way to figure out what Touch Wiz does is to head down to your local cell phone store (doesnt matter if its VZW, ATT, TMo, Best Buy, whatever) and play around with a Galaxy Nexus for awhile (or sit down with a friends)...

anything that is DIFFERENT on your phone than the Nexus is what makes Touch Wiz what it is...

Oh ok. So the people who complain simply just don't like what they are seeing I guess as opposed to other interfaces. I don't mind it to be honest.

Having had a Motorola, HTC and Samsung phone all at one time or another, I like TW best. The only thing HTC and Sense have going for it is the clock and the animated weather, which you can now get easily from apps in the play store. And I hated Motoblur.

personally i think Blur has been the top skin since GingerBlur released...and i think Blur for ICS is perfect...takes everything that is great about AOSP and improves it..
