What file types does Android tablets support

[jparnold]

Hello
I have not yet decided whether to purchase an Android tablet or an Ipad.
I have found that Ipads support a number of file types I would like to use.
Would someone please advise either where I can find file types supported by Android tablets and/or advise if Android tablets support the following file types and if installation of certain apps are required to do do and if those apps are free.

PDF
DOCX (M/S Word documents)
JPG
XLSX (M/S excel spreadsheets)

Thanks

Android supports those no problem. JPG is standard, and there's plenty of PDF, DOCX and XLSX viewers and editors available on Google Play. The iPad is the same AFAIK. JPG is standard, and for PDF, DOCX and XLSX you have to install additional software like iWork.
