What happen to YouTube?

I gotta say after the latest update to YouTube its absolutely terrible on my Nexus 7. Constant buffering no matter if I'm using my wifi at home, work, or even through the LTE hotspot of my GS3. What the heck happen?

Just loaded up the Assasins vs Parkour video (in HD) and it streamed just fine though it did stutter a couple times. Never buffered. I just downloaded YT (guess my ROM didn't include it). Have you just updated the app?

The other day I updated the app, just did an uninstall and it seems to be working a little bit better, only stopped once to buffer with a 7 minute video clip. Better then the non stop buffering that I had with the update.

I have trouble with Youtube. It doesn't matter if it's HQ or not, the video buffers terribly. I can't trust it to download more than 30 seconds ahead. This has been my experience on several Android devices lately, and it's no better on the Nexus 7.

My wifi signal is pretty low - I'm quite far away from the router - but I did a speed test that shows I'm downloading at approx 900Kb/s at this range, and other video streaming services work just fine.

I've been assuming the the Youtube app is just broken. Unfortunately there's no alternative on the Nexus 7 (I side-loaded Flash, but even Firefox - the only browser still doing flash - takes you to the Youtube app when you press on a video).

That's because you set it to. Go to Application Settings and tap Clear Defaults for the YouTube app. Next time it will ask you what app you want to use: don't tap Always if you'd rather it didn't do the same thing every time.

Nope -- Firefox never gave me an option to launch the Youtube app or not (it just does), and in the Youtube app's settings the "Clear defaults" button is ghosted out.

YouTube had been basically unplayable on both my HTC rezound and my N7. Doesn't matter if I'm on 4g or cable Wi-Fi, it plays for a second then ten minutes of buffering. I think the app is broke, haven't tried it on my computer.

What I did was uninstall the update and its been working much better for me on both my N7 on wifi and my GS3 through LTE.
