What happens to incoming VM calls when I have no service?

This has happened several times that I know of (3 times to friend trying to reach me today); someone calls and my phone doesn't ring, yet the caller only hears ringing on their end with no chance to leave a message. What gives? Are the messages only stored on the phone? Dealing with VM is enough to make the Pope cuss!

Even if your phone is off the caller should get dumped into your voice mail. The messages are stored on Virgin's server, not the phone. Visual voice mail will download the messages in the background to your phone but until you delete them they should remain on the server.

Oh goody, another VM problem to deal with!

Check and make sure your voice mail is set up. Call your voicemail from your phone. If it isn't set up, it'll guide you through it.

I've had the phone reprovisioned which reset the voicemail. I didn't even know about it, until my wife called me said my voice mail is not set up.

If your voice mail is set up then you'll have to call VM customer support. If you don't want to call, email saveme@thevirginangels.com and describe them the problem. Generally, I find VM customer good at replacing parts and solving "common" issues. I think this should be common enough.
