I think it's because engineers tend to think they are the BOMB and whatever they feel should be adopted by all. What they fail to realize is that people like to have options, and don't like to be told what to do. In the end, they don't really care what we think as long as we like the product enough to buy it. For them, it's not about taking pride in the fact that they made the best phone they could make...but that they made a phone that sells well. Unfortunate really.
Wireless charging (or lack thereof) is one of my biggest gripes. Since it's not standard, the add-on makes cases not fit. Samsung should have made the Note 4 come standard with wireless charging, but they wanted to cut that corner. Now, it's a fragmented solution which causes all sorts of problems when implemented. I truly hate them for this, but I'll still buy the phone. I feel in another generation or two, they will have to include wireless charging stock, as they will start to see lost sales when all the other phones are doing it. People will start asking "why" this isn't a standard feature.
I have the wireless charging back and a case with no problems. This is the case and this is the back. Wireless charging works beautifully even with the case. I agree that Samsung SHOULD have included it out of the box, however we could be like iPhone users and not even have the option.
