Help What is a PIT?

Hi there.

I have been visiting different forums and came across this "PIT" word alot, i will really appreciate if someone can explain PIT in detail.

.PIT files are some times used during flashing new firmware using odin.
You also would need, PDA, phone and CSC files

From what I gather, they dictate the partition of the internal SD card. Almost all rom uses 512.pit, but some prototype froyo rom used 803.pit because Samsung needed a bigger partition to accommodate Froyo at that time.
