What is benefit to custom roms on this phone?

I plan on rooting installing cwm and getting rid of bloat. With a jellybean rom is there a true benefit to using a custom rom? Which is the best one cm10? Paranoid Android?

Well first off only use cwm for aosp/aokp not stock or other tw. Tw requires agat kernel.

Lots of benefits if you like customization and better performance.

I'm on baked black bean and I love it. Also cm10.1 wild for the night is a good one. I've used the 3/27 version. These are not the best I guess but I highly recommend them.

Good luck

Trying to understand? Tw? Is that twrp? Do I need to change kernels for that? What is best recovery to use Ive used twrp on my nexus 7 and cwm on all my other android devices.

Stock TW JB ROMs can use Garwynn's kernel with recovery, version 0.4.1 is CWM and version 0.5.0 is Agat revovery. TW is not limited to only Agat recovery, though the recovery has to be packaged with the kernel on this phone. Right now there are two kernels that will properly backup and restore TW JB and those are the recovery kernels developed by Agat and Garwynn.

As far as custom ROMs go, it is a matter of preference as to what you want the ROM to look like and how it operates. The TW ROMs do have the advantage of being easier to do maintenance updates to PRL etc. Custom ROMs offer other features that user like.

If you are just looking for a look and feel change, then the easiest method is to just try out a different launcher.

That I know. What is the easiest recovery to install. Or what is the best recovery to install even if its an involved process. Ive only used twrp and cwm.

From my experience with other devices ive always used a custom recovery to perform a nandroid backup

Go to the one stop shop, find a ROM you want to try, and carefully read the instructions. The one stop shop is stickied at the top of the all things root section that this thread is in. All you need to do is find out which ROM you want to use.

What are the 2 kernels you speak of? I would like to try them
