Help What is different with Samsung USB charger cable ?

I always get a message when using my original Samsung charger and a non-original Samsung USB cable saying "Slow charging. To charge faster use the original charger".

It is the original charger. If I use the original USB cable, then I don't get that message - and it charges faster.

I used an ohmmeter to measure the resistance between all 4 pins of the original Samsung USB cable - and could not see any difference.

What is different with the Samsung USB cable and a standard USB cable ?

I'm not sure on this but I seem to remember reading that two of the pins are shorted on Samsung cables vs non Samsung

There are also links around on how to mod a generic cable for the same effect.

I have no idea why Samsung did that other to lock in accessory sales.

I typically get 850 mA in on my generic stuff.
