For example, Facebook often asks me if I would like their app but I have had no problems accessing the FB site without the app. Same for many other sites, news, weather, etc. Am I missing something?
Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.
Note: This feature may not be available in some browsers.
Facebook also want you to use their app as it can sniff through your phone contacts in a way that is impossible via the browser so they can suggest new people to link you to.

If you have got a rooted phone you can use something like LBE Privacy Guard to have a lot more control over permissions. I've been using it for a while and feel much comfortabler with it - each time you install a new app it lets you re-configure it's permissions before starting using it.No, haven't tried it but most likely now I will. Was a bit paranoid about agreeing to all the permissions apparently most apps require. To sheep or not to sheep.
