Can't seem to find Swype in Market...swear I could search for it a while back. I'm used to just the physical on the Droid. Would like a T9 for the touch screen portion.

I use the Sense keyboard. I need the mic plus I'm faster on it. Swype's word prediction was getting on my nerves after a while making me slower.

Downloaded SlideIT (I registered for Swype but the Beta is closed) and I like how it works, however, I prefer physical keyboard. I am looking for something that has a T9 keyboard for touch display that I can use easily without really needing to look at my phone. On my Samsung Alias 2 I can text with T9 without looking no problem. I would love to have the same for my droid.

Won't give up my HTC_IME until something better comes along.. which hasn't happened yet. Better keyboard is pretty nice though with the basic black skin.

I used Swype since day one for the DX and really liked it. I do find it less efficient when typing websites and email addresses. I installed SwiftKey and have been using it for a little over a day. It certainly has a number of merits but also isn't real efficient for websites and email addresses. Either way, I found both of these apps to be superior by far to the standard keyboard. And you have to appreciate the incredible innovation offered by both.

I'm going to use SwiftKey for a week or two to see how much it "learns" and how much better that makes it. I loved Swype but I'm beginning to think SwiftKey might be even more efficient after going through the learning curve. I'm wondering if a hybrid might be the ideal situation. The Swype keyboard with the bar of 3 word choices across the top.

I tried ShapeWriter. Swype beat it out in two ways: landscape mode (ShapeWriter doesn't change aspect ratio) and 2. capitalization just does not work for passwords and such (if you have one capital letter in the middle, with ShapeWriter, you're screwed).

As an old Palm OS convert, I'm also enjoying using Graffiti for Android for certain applications.

I LOVE Shapewriter, but I wish it would put the space after the word, and not before. Swype handles spacing this way, and I prefer it.

This makes it easier to input compound words, such as you will find in websites - androidforums, for example.

Used a few keyboards allready. Swype didn't work on my phone because of the resolution or something. It didn't come with a dutch language-pack either whilst slideit did !
I loved using it but after the trial I wanted to buy it, but something just went wrong with my paypalaccount...
In the mean time I used Swiftkey, which I tought was a good alternative and works really well.
Now my paypal account has been restored and the first thing I'll do is buying the slideit keyboard...
I need glasses to read so sometimes it's difficult to hit the keys right and with slideit it's less more difficult, but hey, I really need a new pair of eyes

so pissed, my swype decided to stop working for me....... uninstalled and reinstalled it and it says that it doesnt match the phone type on my account. which is weird because my swype beta account has my incredible listed.......................

Have you tried re-booting the phone? I occasionally have problems with Swype and that seems to help.

This will sound stupid but do all these have to be put on the SD card first and how is that done? If it's documented elsewhere please feel free to point me.

TIA!

just install them from the market (or wherever), go to settings -> locale & text and enable the keyboard(s)
you are then free to switch between keyboards when you tap-and-hold on any text field

was using swype, tried swiftkey. really like the keyboard layout, and the prediction is scary accurate! I am still having problems with wanting to hit either i or o and getting the wrong one... I wish there was a better portrait layout, i do think both swype and swiftkey have a better layout than the default keyboard.

For those using swiftkey, where is the mic for speech input? Cant find it and like to use...
