what is the "local" app?

[cyvideo]

I have an app called "Local". Its icon is a red pointer marker with a grey head and sholders icon of a person next to it on the bottom left. It has a history of old locations that I need to clear. How do I clear it?

Hi, welcome to Android Forums.

'Local' is part of Google Maps. As far as I am aware it is not possible to clear the local history directly but I think it is related to 'Maps history' which you will find in Maps --> Settings --> Maps history. I delete unwanted locations from here on a regular basis. I don't have many locations in 'Local' and that's why I think they are related, so it may be worth trying that. I also think that 'recent history' is time related, as it's name suggests and therefore auto deletes older searches, but that is only conjecture on my part.

Hope this helps.
