what is this app?

If you pull down the notification bar is there an item with that icon for you to tap? If so, that should take you to the app.

The app is not on my phone.... it is on someone else's. It is a green bubble in the background almost like the green gosms bubble, and it has an orange speaker on the face of it in the front. Any helps appreciated and thanks for the quick reply.

It's not an app; it's the GO SMS back up icon telling your friend back up is over due;..you can back up the message settings, the sms themselves or both manually or at regular intervals. You can change it in settings > Go SMS services

It came as part of the recent app upgrade which is why it is popping up all of a sudden.

I just set a backup on my go SMS and the notification icon that popped up was not the same one for what I am describing. The one I am looking for doesn't say "go" on it either.

Can you give a screen shot? I ask because you really aren't giving us much to go off of. Depending on where you saw it it could be many things, someone could be using a theme on a rom and it is the sound off profile notification showing in the notification bar. It could be a notification from an app or countless other things if you are looking at someone's rooted phone.

Also some apps allow you to choose what the icon to display in the notification bar is so it could just be a .png file the guy had and decided to make it the always on notification for tasker or some other app

Okay, do you know if it is something that goes away when your friend presses clear or is it system persistant?

I haven't been able to get a screen shot of it but it's on the left side of the notification bar.

That's not it. But close. The orange circle covers more of the green bubble and the word go is not there. The orange bubble has either a speaker or megaphone drawn in it in white.

It is go SMS you have a voicemail

You should be able to pull down the notification bar and see why it is there

I would assume so. I said Verizon because your ss is a Verizon phone. If it can tell you have a VM on AT&T then it would be the same icon

This has nothing to do with voicemail; it came with one of the recent upgrades of Go. .. the speaker is just an icon for you to know that Go is speaking to you/trying to tell you something. They have installed a "notices" action to their products and this just tells you that there is a "new notification" .. when you open it you get the Go notification window which lists what the app is telling you (depending which GO products you have downloaded you may get more or less of these notices).. usually that you haven't backed up your SMS.

It's annoying because you can't turn the notifications off and until you open the "GO notifications window" and clear it it will keep popping up on you.

Quite a few people have commented negatively about it on the Market so hopefully it will disappear soon.

Can you tell me where you found that icon and where I can get some info on it?

I extracted the drawables-hdpi folder from the apk. The icon is titled messagebox_notice_icon.png the rest is conjecturing and searching around the help file. I don't use go and the support is very limited so use as documented and real world use may differ
