What is this icon for

This icon pops up for a second at a time randomly When one person messages me mostly What is it? I also get my phone taking random screenshots on it's own Is this a know issue?

Could be a known feature or function, depending on whatever it is make and model of phone you've got there. Check the accessibility settings for it.

Have you scanned for malware? Virus? PUPs? (Potentially Unwanted Programs usually bundled with a download of something you want, something very common with Windows free downloads off the web.)

This (garbage) usually runs in the background, making the device use extra battery and perform sluggishly perhaps on a phishing expedition or sending spam , wasting your data dollar.

Ask Google Play for antivirus or antimalware.

I just got the same exact icon on my lock screen and when I unlocked the screen i got the notice that google maps was updated my shared location. I share my location with my wife and son so they know where I am without having to ask. Apparently you @Poppadre are sharing your location too. Perhaps it's with whoever was texting you and it updates your location when you get a text? I'm not exactly sure what triggers it.
