Help What is this notification

Quick question as i have never used android, i have a grey square with a red cross on my notifications bar what does it mean? kinda looks like a health pack from a game

go to your app drawer. Does it look like the "emergency alerts" icon?

yeah it means no signal and you can only make emergency calls.

ok thanks i knew i could only make emergency calls as i have no sim yet (3 taking over a week to send one) should have put 2 and 2 together cheers but i also now have an alarm bell with no entry type icon in the bottom right corner it only appered after i had set an alarm, but my alarm went off and i disabled it, delete the alarm and rebooted and its still there?

If your talking bout the TOP of the screen in notification bar I believe u are referring to the ringer on/off symbol. Silent is a bell with a red circle and a line through circle.
