what makes a post or thread "hot"????

just curious as to what threads go in this tab? all of them so far are articles from google or microsoft among others. i am just curious as to what determines a thread hot?

I would think it would be an indicator that the thread is receiving more traffic than others but I don't know the criteria. It would have to be traffic and time to be hotter than some of the mega threads. Good question.

Good question. I looked at it as latest news from major companies, meaning it was hot news

Looking through the hot threads it's difficult to draw a conclusion. Some threads have zero replies and some up to ten. Most all all recent so maybe it's the latest posted threads. Only the man behind the curtain knows for sure.

The "HOT" tab is part of an add-on by Audentio called "Feeds" and honestly, I'm not 100% sure what algo is used to select what's hot and what's not. I think if we had more activity on the forums it would be kind of like Reddit's homepage where the more active/liked/viewed stuff floats to the top.

I have also noticed all the "breaking news" taking over the HOT section and again, that's mostly because the volume of posts is low right now so that's typically all the new incoming threads we're seeing.

I *think* I can prevent "Breaking News" threads from showing in these feeds but then that content will be kind of buried. Hmmm... what to do what to do....

I don't disagree. Losing channels really hurts. Working on alternatives but it ain't an easy solution- happy to hear suggestions.
