What makes my phone vibrate everytime I connect to Wifi??

Hi Guys

I use an app called Go Power Master, which turns off Data & WiFi when my screen is locked.
Everytime I turn my screen my phone on to use it, Wifi turns on, and the phone vibrates once. But there is NO notification in the status bar?

How do I find which bloody app is making it vibrate without notification? This happens about 90% of the time!

I have checked all the main apps I think might cause it, but all their notifications/vibrations are already OFF.

Is there any APP that tells you what other apps currently installed use notifications with vibrations, so I can narrow my search down? I have like 100 apps.

100 apps? I guess you should keep checking!! OMG!!
No, really, check the apps, one of them is allowing it.:D
 
I'd bet on Go Power Master having some sort of connection alert. And what's wrong with 100 apps? I probably have twice that.

I don't have Go apps. It is whenever the data connection changes. As in when mobile switches to WiFi, when mobile data is lost.
It does a disconnect and a connect vibration and notification sound but no visual notification. Though the icons shuffle.
 
Maybe try looking in Settings- Network&Internet- Wifi- Wifi_Preferences (or advanced).. I bet ya may have something to work with.. I have similar notifs with a lot of newer OS's myself.

I agree with @bcrichster that you're likely to find the source in your network settings. But I have another solution--and it's super easy.

Install this app, Recent Notification, and let it run. Anything that causes an alert/notification should show up in its list.

This app quickly solved a mystifying situation I was having with phantom alerts, not your issue exactly, but the same idea. The phone would vibrate, the notification bar wiggled a little but showed no alert for this mysterious vibration. Problem solved within minutes of running this app--which I liked so much, I got the paid version.

No guarantees that you'll have the same result, but it's worth a try.

Omg.. You don't need an app to do that, Lol. Just use your widget setup.. Choose Settings, attach notifications and it'll work the same way.

Oh, the app does much more than that--and wasn't designed for the task I used it for. It just happened to do what I needed. I use it now for its actual features. :)
Just use your widget setup.. Choose Settings, attach notifications and it'll work the same way.

I have no idea what you're talking about! :o Or anything in your image...

My widgets are controlled by my launcher, ADW Launcher 1 EX. There's no such thing in its choices for attaching notifications. I wouldn't mind being clued in!

  • Open widgets
  • Select Settings gear icon
  • Next, select "Notifications" or "Notification Log"
  • Move widget to desired location
  • You're done

Again, *my* widgets are a function of my launcher--and unless I'm blind, it does NOT have 'settings' as one of its widgets...

Edit: So I took a minute to look through the launcher's OTHER features--NOT widgets--and guess what I found? A 'custom shortcut' option. Hmmm...I wondered... :thinking: Could this be it? Why, yes! :D

So it works, but with more effort. You have to select it, read the list it brings up, then get rid of that (unless you want it open, of course).

It only displays 2 lines of info for each notification, and goes back seven days. The app shows what you would've seen--complete with graphics--if you had actually viewed the entire alert. And its settings let you choose how far back to go, when/whether to delete, and more.

With my app, it's just more elegant, but this is an excellent, free way of doing it.

Here are comparison screenshots, the first showing the custom shortcut/widget method--after you've clicked on its icon, the second showing the app I mentioned, as it appears where I put it:

You'll notice that the app doesn't show certain things, e.g., Amazon Photos, because of how I've adjusted its settings. You can open the app if you want to, but there's usually no need unless you want to change something.

The shortcut/widget display is blunt, but gets the job done.

I prefer the app, but for someone just wanting to identify a phantom alert, the widget method is a great choice.
