What matters with a new phone

Mine is lime green. Not a black rectangle.

I think the thing that matters most is software development. Hardware and screens are all great. But what android lacks is professional apps that could seriously change the way people think and will really make a tablet replace a laptop for the general consumer.
 
I feel the hardware that runs the apps is important. On the computer, I always drag the latest Photoshop or memory usage software in and tell the tech to upgrade it to twice required.

At one point, I managed to make my PC look like a Mac for laughs. Once I get into the programs, I really don't know which OS I'm on on the computer. Pale Moon looks exactly the same in Ubuntu as it does in Windows. My Adobe software looked identical on a Mac. Libre Office looks the same on everything.

Photoshop for Mac had sounds, though. PS4 or 5 had an Easter egg called a Big Blue Electric cat. On the Mac, he would burp. Windows made no sound.

I can tell the difference in some programs in IOS and Android. Accuweather for IOS looks exactly like the one on the PC - Android is missing some parts like the actual jet stream.

I was just remembering all the posts - indignant, funny, critical or otherwise that appeared on this forum when Apple first sued Samsung over the Bezel.
 
The major feature I'd benefit from is a 6.0" display. Of the various choices, the one that has ideal specs is the Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, I'm eager to get my hands on one of those, save any significant problems, it'd be a keeper.

Mobile hardware, though it's moving fast, what app can take advantage of 4 GB of RAM and 8 cores of processing power?

Nothing. Computers can do this. When it comes to video editing, photoshop of gaming, all intense software will push the hardware to it's limits. We need that software on Android and iOS.

And they have to work together.

IS THIS GUY NUTS? I'd love 128GB native on my phone and I'd still want a memory card slot. The Cloud, Why is everyone so obsessed with the cloud? Don't they realize that clouds evaporate eventually?
 
A cell or tablet will never replace my need for a good desktop, or laptop. They just can't compete no matter what software is made available to android.

And I agree with the 128 GB thing. I would love that much on board memory on my phone. Hell, I'd be happy with 5 GB of usable space and an sd expansion slot. But that will remain a dream for many many years.

These days it's the goal of the manufacturers to add and improve the things that don't really make a big difference in every day mobile computing. The average user won't notice a big difference between a screen with high res over a 1080p screen, or a 1.2 ghz or a 1.4ghz dual core, or find a use for an 8" screen, but these will all be things they focus on. From our time as kids we were taught that bgger is better.. The electronics industry does this too but in a different sense. Bigger specs delivered in a smaller package. They use this mental programming to peak our interests with the biggest and shiniest New things.
Its why so many people have to have 100" tv's and 5 display computer setups.

Things that have no practical use in the residential consumer world.

Universal remotes with touch screen displays, refrigerators with LCD info centers, on star systems in cars when you have free GPS programs on your phone. Manufactures won't focus on things that are needed because they know that the average consumers eye is caught by the newest, latest and greatest tech, with the more powerful specs.

Bigger screen then what I had(Easier for me to see things on the phone now),
And the Specs.(Really the main thing I look at when buying a phone).
Has to be a Brand name device.
