What may be the device?

I had a tablet with following specs and I don't know the problem that causes it to show 'Unfortunately, Settings has stopped.' or other similar pop ups whenever I try to manage the options. Even a tap on the trivial setting of date and time shows it. Kindly help me. Thanks in advance.

Everything other than the following specs are written as unknown.
Android Version : 4.0.3
Kernel version : 3.0.8 shen@compiler#1
Build Number : 20120712-L705B

It has a HDMI mini port, supports OTG cable, 3.5mm head phones jack, 7" screen. It does a lot of weird stuff, I can write it up if that helps to identify the model and solve my problems.

Is there anything under the battery (if removable) or any markings on the back stamped into it?

Where did you get it from? No box or manuals?
You've been wondering this for some time eh? ;)

Have you tried resetting it to factory defaults, as it may be something has gone funky with the software? Backup anything important first though.

The leather case around it is something like strapped and fixed. I have to rip it apart if I have to look at its back. As far as I know (I took a look at a device of my classmate, he left the school) it has only the hardware specs stamped on it's back. "Charge DC 5V_2 A max, wifi certified, 2160P, USB, HDMI, FC and CE.

I got it at my school, there are no manuals along with it. Yes, but how do you know? :p

If I tap the Backup and Reset, it pops up the same message 'Unfortunately Settings has stopped.'

Perhaps the only way is to reset it. Seems to be a tablet of some sort so there may be a reset button on there somewhere that you need to stick a paperclip or pin into?
I saw your other thread here;)

There's no hardware button anywhere on the tablet. I found some similar hardware config on XDA an hour back, I'll read it completely and post back. Can I root that device irrespective of the device?
LOL,you're on PCHELPforum? :o

Sorry, I should clarify :o Is there a small hole to put a paperclip into to reset?
As far as root, not sure unless we identify the device.
Although, towelroot comes to mind:) I'll find the link shortly.

As far as PCHELPforum, no lol...I just did a google search for your build number and that came up:)

I have two holes, one a rectangular and another circular. But I guess paper clip doesn't fit in any of those. :(
