Lurker
It all started yesterday evening... My 14 month old S3 randomly started playing music from Google Play, without any prompting. Every time I pressed pause it stopped then pressed 'back' to exit the app it started playing again.
I eventually closed the app and went to charge the phone. It wouldn't charge. I found a different charger. It charged. At 2am this morning I was woken by the music, except a totally different play list from before. It was fully charged. I stopped the music and unplugged the phone from the charger. At 5.30 am it was on critical battery, 7%. I tried 3 different chargers. None of them worked. I put a different battery in- 70% charge. I realised there was a big problem so switched the phone off. I came in this evening and the battery is dead. My wife said she saw a large android robot icon on the screen earlier with a message something like 'don't switch off this target, it is reloading'.
Has anyone any idea what has happened and how I can get my phone back? I have 2% battery on one cell left. Should I try a 'factory reset'?

There was an app I installed awhile back that caused Google Play Music to automatically start playing by itself whenever the app was left running as a cached process. Sorry I don't remember what app it was. I do remember that I fixed it by uninstalling all updates to Google Play Music because that app was more important. I'm really trying to think what app it was that caused the issue and if I remember I'll post back. But for now maybe try uninstalling the updates if you can.

Hi,
I managed to do a factory reset, but this has made no difference with the charging issue, so I have arranged a warranty repair via Samsung UK.
One thing I did notice before I reset was an unfamiliar home screen with a calender and weather forecast on it. This had icons at the bottom with internet and music player, etc. on it. I have no idea where this came from, but this screen kept randomly appearing as I was finding the factory reset screen. It seems like some sort of bug/virus issue, but I have no idea.
