What phone Should I get?

Well im do for an upgrade and plan on going within the next week. But im not sure what i should get. Ive been looking at The Droid Razer Maxx but im still not sure. I would like a phone that has a good battery life and has a good developer base or will for custom roms and rooting and such. Thanks for any tips or advice.

Are they virtually the same thing or completely different

completely different, one is open source, the other isnt,
one has an encrypted bootloader, the other is open
ones build quality is the best, the other isnt that bad
