What phone to replace Note 4?

docz65

Lurker
First post,
I was just checking in with Rogers about getting the Note 5 and thought someone was playing a sick joke about non-removable battery and no SD card slot....
I cannot be the only Samsung fan really angry about this.

These iPhonish changes are enough for me to dump Samsung altogether.

I am quite happy with my Note 4 other than it being replaced 2x in 10 months because of screen burn.

Bottom line..

What's the next best phablet on the market?

WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS docz65 !

Guessing that you're willing to part with the S-Pen/stylus,but, SD Card Slot/removable battery are must-haves,I'm recommending the LG G4.

I'd pass on the stylus for sure..
the whole Note 5 is so Apple-ish I am angry..
I have been a die hard Samsung fan since before the Note 1, they can keep it all now.
LG TVs will be on the walls and and LG phone in my pocket.

I've got an LG TV (the GOOGLE G3 47") & it has an AWESOME picture & sound.
I didn't care for the LG G3,but,I've seen the G4 up-close & it looks like a keeper.
Personal preferences aside,I don't think you could go wrong w/either the G3 or G4.

I too am waiting for the LG G4 Pro, looks to have all the things Samsung has abandoned, I too have been a Samsung fan for many years until they went"Apple". Phil

Right now at least for the next year... get another new Note 4. It can hold it's own the the best ones out there right now even with the Note 5. Next year, unless Samsung reverses and at least includes SD support, I will be switching from Samsung for the first time in many years.

The LG G4 pro seems like its got some good content!!
I had a chance to trade my Galaxy S5 for a LG G4 Pro off Craigslist a month ago, but that same weekend, I ended up trading for my current Galaxy Note 4. That S5 is a popular phone. I really liked it, but wanted a bigger screen. The guy I traded with had real small hands and the Note 4 was too big. So we were both happy with the trade.

I also have the Note 4 and have already ordered my Moto X Pure Edition. Other than the stylus, this is the phone the Note 5 should have been and isn't, IMO.

I like that phone too. When I switch from AT&T to Verizon next March, that may well be the phone I go with. I'll see what is out there then as technology and phones change every six months.
I don't think you can swap battery with the Moto X though. But having SD support is more important.

If you are a fan of AMOLED screens you might be disappointed with the G4 and especially the G3. Whereas the color accuracy might be better, the images simply don't have the "punch" of the Samsungs, and the viewing angle is lousy too. Excellent camera, though, especially on the G4.
I'm getting a new phone and have considered the G4, but, guess what? I'm getting a Note 4!
It's interesting that my Verizon store claims Samsung sells rings around LG, and they downplay the LG. Maybe they're right but maybe they get better commissions if they sell Samsung? Best Buy does the same thing.

Well, for me, the Note 4 is good enough for at least 6 more months... then around May next year, I'll see what is out there then and compare.

I don't expect to get any kind of new phone until mine dies! I'll worry about which phone to replace it with then.
