What phones work on what networks?

Wondering if anyone can help me out with explaining this? I am on Verizon and have had my phone for probably six years. I have needed a new one for a while, but when I find one I like, it often doesn't work on Verizon's network. I am currently at least a little intrigued by the ROG 3. Not sure if it will be available with Verizon. Thanks.

Maybe I'm not being clear enough. Is CDMA vs GSM still a thing?

Maybe more specific. If I am looking at an ROG 3 and it is only gsm, but cdma and gsm are doing away, how do I tell if that will work on verizon?

basically at least for right now gsm and cdma phones can't be crossed over. so you will need to find a ROG that is cdma to be able to use it with verizon.
