What should I do?

So I got a Samsung Galaxy S3 a few months ago, and within a week of me owning it, I cracked the screen. It fell literally one foot and cracked. Its not a bad crack, but it's enough to bother me, so I want to fix it. I have Assurian insurance, and they cover cracked screens, but it's a $100 deductible, so kind of a pretty penny... On the other hand, I can buy a replacement screen on eBay for a fraction of the cost. If I bought a replacement screen, would it void any warranty I have with Assurian? I also worry about the quality of the screen with something like this. What do you recommend I should do? Thanks.

Yes it will void the warranty, and the replacement screen on ebay is something that I don't think is Gorilla Glass, so I'd think it would be less scratch resist.

If your phone really only fell one foot and cracked, then that doesn't seem to be enough to crack the screen. I'd go online with Samsung support and do a live chat. Just be honest with them and tell them what happened. They may replace under warranty. I'm new to Samsung but something similar happened with my iPhone. I was honest with them and they replaced my phone under warranty. I think what causes these companies to not help you is when they feel you're lying. So just try the honest approach and see what happens. It can't hurt.

Alright, ill probably just get a new phone. Is there any way to transfer my apps and other data over?

yes i defiantly suggest get a new phone.

you can access your downloaded/installed apps from your gmail account.
when you get the new phone. log into your gmail account you have used for your last phone. then go into the market and click the menu button then click on "my apps" then scroll to the left u will see "all" instead of "installed"

Don't forget to copy your internal SD card to your PC. You will lose any photos, ringtones, books, etc. saved to the internal memory when you swap out the phone. I'm actually doing this as I type. Then just copy the files back to your replacement phones internal memory. Also remove the external SD card (if you have one) and put it in the new phone.
