Apps What software do I need to create android apps?

It would be nice if you could tell me all the software required to make an application for Android. Much better if provided link to where to download. I have tried searching on Google, but failed hopelessly. Downloaded Android SDK, Java Development Kit 6 and also Eclipse, but I failed to run Eclipse. Did I do anything wrong? Thanks.
 
I moved this to our application development forum to get some better eyes on it.:)

There is some info in the sticky threads at the top of the forum that explain how to set up the development environment.;)
 
If you failed to run eclipse, then I'd say you did something wrong. What problems are you having when working with eclipse?
 
It was something with that Eclipse couldn't find Java Jdk (it was the location of the java jdk i had already installed; like C:\ Program Files..)

I gave up on Eclipse and installed IntelliJ Idea. Haven't tried it yet.
 
I have downloaded Eclipse from Eclipse.org and that didn't work. I also downloaded the ADT bundle, which has the SDK and Eclipse. That also didn't work.
 
Yes, I tried that too. Nothing helped, so I gave up. Would be good if it worked, tho. Eclipse have way more tutorials than IntelliJ Idea.
