what the hell at&t

"Where's my cool phone" has to be the silliest crap I've ever seen on a commercial. Idiot, you're holding a Droid. Try turning it on and then you'll see your cool phone.

Where is my cool phone (that does not have good coverage). Why is my download taking so long? (I normally can not download anything because I don't have a signal in here). I suggest Verizon redo the commercial with the real story edited in.

Remember, you never aim your marketing at a smaller, weaker opposition.. they only fire up the food chain. Vzw wins, need proof? AT&T has already blocked selling iPhones in NYC due to their lack of network and support. Let them make these silly commercials, *I* already have my cool phone. :D

The funny thing about the commercial is that it didn't even mention the iPhone ONE time. Did you all jump on Pizza Hut and the other commercials that did the same thing? If not then you all are coming off like hypocrites.

What? That happen for at most a day. Read a tech blog or anything you will see that it was only happening ONLINE and everything went back to normal.

A day, or a year.. it still blocked sales of the famed product. I never saw a follow-up on the original blog, but then again, I don't search out Apple blogs.

I bet you part of the Verizon deal with Apple is to stop blatantly smashing them which is why you haven't seen iPhone specific commercials really for a few months now.

I would assume this crowd happens to be more energized about the Droid and cellphones in general, having signed up on this site. Myself, I really am not as involved in pizza companies as I am with cellphone companies. Do you see us on a Dominos fan site explaining why it's better than Pizza Hut? Is it really a fair analogy? You buy a pizza once and if you don't like it, you don't go back. If you buy a cellphone with plan, typically you are locked into a 2 year contract. We just wish that consumers could be told the truth instead of being tricked into a contract.

i wish VZW would fight firre with fire here. hire a real actor and dump out their flaws for all to see. yes yes, during the Super Bowl with all to see. it'd be great. buuuuuuuuuut with Big Red possibly getting the iPhone, i dont know if that would be in best interest

I have said this before, they should hire Owen Wilson and at the end of the commercial he says "VZW has the better Wilson!" - :p

I don't either but I do read Engadget. It said that it was only happening online and that you could still walk into a store that sells them and pick one up.

The coverage issue was never a concern for me since I was always covered where I worked and lived.

What truth is not being told? I worked at RadioShack for a while. People come up and want a cellphone. First thing I do is ask for an address to do a coverage check. They pass that and of course the credit check, I then proceed to give them what they want. Once their contract is printed out, I go over how much their first bill will be to how much they'll be paying every month. I don't know about VZW but it's policy when selling AT&T and Sprint phones because they have to initial that they understand before walking out. We don't do it and the carriers get pissed and don't want to credit the store with the sale.

Lol I joked around with my friend about that last night. VZW could totally get Owen to do wacky fun commercials and start a sibling rivalry ;P

The commercial is basically implying that VZW (as well as the rest of the competition) has no/limited apps, slow download speeds, and does not have "cool" phones. Now obviously, a phone being cool or not is subjective, but the first two claims are embellished. Now don't get me wrong, perhaps I shouldn't have said that the "truth was not being told". Obviously commercials embellish and have always been made in this way. All I really meant by my comment was that it's not really comparable to ask why these members are attacking AT&T for their ads, but not Pizza Hut. It's simply a very different scenario. How good a phone/service is is a lot more discussion-based and polarizing then what type of pizza is the best, and they didn't exactly go sign up on a forum to discuss the merits of a specific type of pizza. I never mentioned any concerns about them tricking customers into a plan which may not have the proper coverage or a price they can afford. All I meant was, I do not believe it is hypocritical in the slightest bit that these members aren't also ranting on forums about Pizza Hut's marketing.

These commercials piss me off so bad! Especially when they bash droids. At&T's 3G service is horrible and they drop calls like mad, like others said they should be spending their money on creating a better networking instead of bashing the obviously better VZW.

As soon as AT&T looses exclusive rights to the iPhone all this bashing will be over because they will have nothing over verizon. My theory is that Verizon is getting the iPhone this summer. That's why AT&T is doing this big push to gain more customers before that happens. I believe that's also why AT&T is now starting to spend money on thier infastructure. Verizons not too worried about it though because they just let the word of mouth of att customers to do the bad mouthing of AT&T for them. In a survey of iPhone owners last year most of them said they would jump ship if Verizon got the iPhone. Once the iPhone comes to big red this summer it's over.

I like how one "wonder phone" (which IMO isn't that great, I would rather have an HTC Magic if I HAD to be on AT&T) gives AT&T and huge ass ego. Theoretically their network may be indeed faster but their backhaul network limits the air interface. Oh yeah and there not the fastest 3G network, T-Mobile is! Still waiting for T-Mobile to sue AT&T for false advertisement....

Verizon should put up the cash to get Owen Wilson, and have him do a counter ad...now that would be savvy marketing (the more successful brother countering the not so successful :))
