my Motorola recently switched itself of and when i plug it into the charger this strange icon appeared it was a yellow triangular sign eith a question mark in middle of it with a green jelly bean caricature standing beside it what does this mean

The yellow triangle is an error warning and the droid suggests it's with the system.

Try pulling down the notification bar and tapping the triangle icon: you should get a bit more information about the error.
